Context
At a time when energy transition has become a strategic priority, a major player in the steel industry wanted to reduce its energy costs while optimising its environmental impact. To meet these challenges, the company planned to install solar panels on several of its industrial sites in Belgium and France. Faced with the technical and economic challenges of such a project, the company called on Intysify's expertise to assess the feasibility of this initiative and to guarantee its effectiveness in both financial and environmental terms.
The main objective of the assignment was to determine the best options for installing solar panels on the roofs of the targeted industrial sites, considering the technical and economic constraints. Specifically, they had to identify the usable areas and optimize the available space, while assessing the technical constraints (roof condition, slope, existing equipment). Our consultants then had to select the best bids from installers to ensure a cost-effective and efficient installation. An energy and financial feasibility study was therefore required to validate the relevance of the project and maximize the return on investment.
Our impact.
In March 2024, Intysify carried out their intervention in several key phases. Firstly, they conducted a preliminary analysis, which included studying the building plans and using advanced mapping tools (Google Maps 3D and energy modelling) to identify usable areas. During this phase, Intysify also carried out a diagnosis of the technical constraints specific to each site, such as the state of the structures, the impact of existing equipment and the optimal orientation of the solar panels.
In the second phase of option evaluation and solution selection, we compared quotes from installers to ensure the economic and technical viability of the project and analyzed the different financing models and subsidies available to optimize the investment.
The final phase of the mission was to produce a feasibility study and implementation readiness plan, validating the requirements for an effective, industry-compliant installation and developing a structured implementation plan to ensure a smooth roll-out and maximize the impact of the project.
Thanks to Intysify's support, the company was able to identify and confirm the optimal surfaces for installing solar panels, thereby maximizing their energy yield. This enabled it to validate the technical and economic feasibility of the project, guaranteeing an attractive return on investment, while reducing its dependence on fossil fuels and actively contributing to its decarbonization objectives by integrating renewable energy solutions.
