Carbon reduction

Intysify helped a major recycler cut emissions, adopt renewable energy, and modernize facilities, proving that even the most polluting industries can embrace sustainability.

Context

Recycling plays a vital role in conserving natural resources and reducing landfill waste. By reprocessing materials, companies can significantly reduce their demand for raw materials while minimizing their environmental impact. However, despite its benefits, metal recycling remains a highly polluting activity. The melting process, but also the use of large amounts of fossil fuels for electronic equipment, releases dust and harmful emissions into the atmosphere, contributing to environmental and health concerns. To address these challenges, Intysify was engaged to help a major metal recycler reduce the negative externalities associated with its industrial processes, with a strong focus on pollution control and carbon emission reduction.

The main objective of the project was to reduce the environmental footprint of metal recycling operations while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and improving workplace safety. Specifically, the project aimed to reduce air pollution and dust emissions from metal processing and to upgrade industrial facilities to minimize environmental and health risks. It also included the integration of renewable energy solutions to reduce the company's dependency on fossil fuels and enhance its overall sustainability strategy through the adoption of cleaner technologies.

Our impact.

To achieve these objectives, Intysify led a strategic investment initiative focused on the acquisition of new infrastructure and equipment to reduce carbon emissions and pollution. Our consultants worked closely with the client to evaluate, procure and implement solutions aimed at upgrading industrial facilities while improving health and safety conditions.

One of the key measures was the installation of advanced filtration systems to significantly reduce dust and CO2 emissions from the metalworking process. By integrating these filters, the company was able to reduce its environmental impact while ensuring a healthier workplace for employees. The transition to renewable energy sources was also a key part of the strategy. The company introduced wind power and electric vehicles to create a more sustainable energy mix and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.

Through this initiative, Intysify helped the client make tangible progress towards its carbon reduction targets. By modernizing its operations and investing in cleaner technologies, the company successfully improved its sustainability performance while maintaining efficiency in metal recycling.
